SAFER Systems' contribution allowed the Incident Commander to make critical, more-informed decisions about safe locations for command posts, routes that would keep equipment and personnel from entering into hazardous environments and about how to best respond overall to the incident-whether to shelter-in-place or evacuate select areas.

McLean, VA - The Missouri Department of Transportation was awarded the Innovation & Technology Award at the International Satellite & Communications Exchange (ISCe) Conference. MoDOT teamed with Spacenet and Orbital Data Net (ODN), the Missouri state contractor for satellite services, to design and implement its emergency communications satellite solution. It integrates terrestrial communications assets with satellite connectivity.
